Entry requirements vary, but many intermediate-level apprenticeships, equivalent to a level 2 qualification, are open to applicants without GCSEs. These programs typically last between one and two years and culminate in work-based qualifications like an NVQ level 2 and knowledge-based credentials such as a BTEC.

Functional Skills

While GCSEs may not be mandatory for entry, some apprenticeships may require literacy and numeracy qualifications. However, these can often be attained through literacy and numeracy tests as part of the program.

Functional Skills are there to help you gain essential literacy and numeracy skills that can be applied in everyday life and work, as well as supporting you grow in confidence. At Umbrella Training learning toward your Functional Skills will take place in your monthly sessions with your learning consultants as well as through self-directed learning on a dedicated maths and English learning platform.
