Inside Hospitality Report 2022 Launch

The second edition of the Inside Hospitality Survey was conducted between November 2021 and February 2022, capturing the views and experiences from 1016 hospitality workers, from all backgrounds and career levels.

The launch took place OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie, as a breakfast briefing joined by allies, partners, supporters, friends, and other industry leaders.

Umbrella Training are proud sponsors of the survey along with Harri, mum, Caterer.com and MAPAL Inc. Group (en).

During the launch, Lorraine Cope stated:

“This report is produced because there is a consistent lack of representation of people of colour in positions of influence, and generally represented across the hospitality industry. I had my own views as to why this was, having worked within all pockets of the sector for the past 20 years, but was keen to capture information to better understand the status quo.”

This report in a deep dive, capturing views and experiences of over 1,000 hospitality employees and entrepreneurs, exploring career progression, racism, diversity & inclusion and education. The report confirms what I believed to be true, in that there are barriers faced by people of colour within the industry, racism is being experienced in the workplace, and there is a gap in education across the sector on all matters of equity, diversity and inclusion”.

Since this launch last week, there have already been over 300 downloads and a lot of feedback, questions and new connections forged. Like Lorraine, we at Umbrella Training believe that change has to start with a first step and so here is what to do next:-
