Beat the Heat - Top tips for studying in hot weather
Summer is definitely here and with temperatures reaching record levels, focusing on your studies is naturally going to be tough.
Luckily, Umbrella Training is here with some top tips to help you beat the heat.
Stay hydrated
This one seems obvious but it bears repeating. Staying hydrated in hot weather is essential to keep you mind and body functioning properly. If water is getting a bit boring try throwing some fruit in to your bottle to give it a little flavour boost.
Change the time you study
Whether you are an early bird or a night owl, in hot weather it is a good idea to get things done during the times of day when the temperature is lower. The hottest period in the day is usually between 3pm and 6pm, so try to give yourself a break between those hours.
Freeze your socks
Our feet play a vital role in regulating our body temperature as they have a large surface area and lots of blood vessels. Put a pair of socks in a bag and stick them in your freezer for 30 minutes. They might be a little stiff when you first put them on, but its a fantastic hack to brining your body temperature down. Just remember to put a towel down as it might get slippy to walk.
Change your study environment
If your usual study spot is difficult to cool down, it might be worth taking your studies to a new location. Head to your local Library, Museum or other public building if they have air conditioning.
Build some DIY air-conditioning
Had enough of your fan blowing warm air into your face? Take a bottle of frozen water, place it on a tray or plate and cover it with a damp cloth. stick this in front of your fan and hey presto! you’ve got a home made air conditioning unit!
