How many times have we heard the phrase “changing perceptions of hospitality” in relation to how young people perceive hospitality?
If this is your reality and you are ready to act on these issues, then traineeships slot naturally into your talent planning.
We have 100 amazing trainees to place in the next 6 months and we are hoping that you will join us in this quest to showcase the best of hospitality!
Umbrella Training Hospitality Orientation Programme (HOP) traineeship is designed to prepare young people for work in hospitality sector and is fully funded by the ESFA.
We will dazzle the young applicants aged 16-18 with great opportunities to see different areas of hospitality and work with some amazing employer brands.
HOP traineeship is 4 months long.
Trainees will go through individual learning needs analysis and our aim is to produce an individual learning plan that suit the needs of these future hospitality super stars and equip them with transferable skills that they can take with them into their future career.
All of this training will be conducted by Umbrella Training learning consultants who have a vast hospitality experience. Trainees will be assigned both Umbrella and workplace mentors who will log activities and progress on our mentoring platform PushFar.
Traineeship will last 414h. 120h delivered in trainer led workshops, 54h delivered using digital platforms, 240h work placement with dedicated workplace mentor.
Month 1 will prepare the trainee for the work in hospitality industry. The first week will focus on employability skills and behaviours (L1 Award in Personal Development). Second week will focus on knowledge and skills needed to work with food (L1 Award in Food Safety). Week 3 will focus on customer service (L1 Award in Customer Service). Week 4 will see trainees meeting the employers who will conduct mock interviews, small networking events and open days. Trainees will also complete Covid-19 Safe Working Practices training.
Months 2,3 and 4 – the trainee will spend in housekeeping, food and beverage and front of house departments respectively. Learning about 3 different aspects of the hospitality business will allow them to make an informed career choice when picking their apprenticeship and a future career path.
Additional pathways will be added to include opportunities to pick sales, admin, kitchen, spa and finance traineeships.
This will open opportunities for entry into other more specialist areas of hospitality and promoting hospitality as a career of choice with many different opportunities to choose.
