Meet Daniel Hall, Learning and Development Manager at Umbrella Training.

Dan has been in hospitality since the age of 15, starting in the kitchen and working his way to Front of House. As a former site General Manager and a classically trained chef, Dan is highly focussed on bringing the best out of people, motivating them and providing 5* customer satisfaction with his infectious ‘can do’ attitude.

Dan says ‘The ability to bring education to the workplace is an asset to any company. It means that employees are in their natural environment with the ability to talk openly and freely, sharing knowledge and experience for everyone to learn from. Whilst apprenticeships have been around for many years, they have now been given a new lease of life with the introduction of End-Point Assessment where the apprentices can truly show off their skills and knowledge.’

Starting in the kitchen, Dan learned the best of what ingredients can offer, enjoying simple and powerful flavours. Dan was inspired by two skiing seasons he completed in France and Switzerland which led him to move across to run meetings and events on a luxury estate. From here, he started to truly understand the power of developing people and made the decision to move into apprenticeships and hasn’t looked back. A confident trainer in the classroom and a knowledgeable hospitality professional, Dan brings the best of his experience everywhere he goes.

Always looking for the ‘next trend’ and to satisfy his food and drink passion, Dan likes to venture out at any opportunity to new, exciting restaurants and bars. An enthusiastic and cheeky chap who you can always find with a cuppa! Outside of hospitality, Dan is a keen snooker player playing in local leagues and socialising.
