NMBB Week 1 - Umbrella Trainings first week of ‘No More Banana Bread’ ends today, but there’s more to come!

week1-12weeks.jpg

What a great start to our 12 weeks of content! This weeks theme was Equality, Diversity & Communities in line with celebrating Race Equality Week.

A huge thank you to all our guest speakers and to those who joined us in our activities.

We are especially pleased to have taken this week to reflect on race equality within our own organisation, creating a safe space for staff to express and speak about any worries about inequalities.

We, like so many of our colleagues and partners, have welcomed the many activities taking place this week to recognise the need to address inequalities that we see in the workplace and wider society.

It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that we are taking steps to tackle these.

Whilst there is clearly a long way to go, it is encouraging to see the measures people are beginning to take.
— Adele Oxberry - CEO of Umbrella Training

A quick catch up of the last week!

Mr Motivator kicked us off on Monday, helping us move our bodies, reframe and refresh our minds ready for the week ahead.

This was followed by Umbrella Training superstar Jonathan talking about why ‘Equality, Diversity & Communities’ is important to engage and consider in life, at work and within apprenticeships on LinkedIn Live - You can rewatch his talk on Youtube.

We had two amazing blog posts; One from Kathy Dyball, Head of Marketing, Caterer.com about ‘What can you do to make a difference?’ in your workplace regarding diversity, equality & inclusion.

We also had apprentice Emma Mackey who is currently engaged in the Level 3 Learning & Development Apprenticeship with Umbrella Training at Red Carnation Hotels, talking about how her experience with diversity, equality & inclusion is handled in her learning and workplace.

We finished the week off with Lorraine Copes, from Be Inclusive Hospitality who joined us LIVE on Instagram for an interactive talk on, ‘The state of the industry and how we can support its future’. You can rewatch this talk on IGTV.

What is coming next week?

The theme for next week is:
National Apprenticeship Week #NAW21

Take part in the 2021 National Apprenticeship Week with the theme “Build the Future” - #NAW2021.

We’ll be shining a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices, the impact of apprenticeships and sharing motivating stories of how apprentices have helped businesses adapt and get stronger during a difficult year.

We are hosting blogs, interactive talks, round tables and workshops with industry experts and apprentices covering subjects from Levy Transfers, the benefits of apprenticeships to businesses, Leadership, Career progression, Preparing for EPA and What are apprenticeships like?

Don’t forget to book your FREE place on these three workshops!
