NMBB Week 2 - Umbrella Training’s celebration of National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2021
This weeks theme was Apprenticeships in line with celebrating National Apprentice Week. #NAW2021
A huge thank you to all our guest speakers and to those who joined in on our activities.
Thank you once again Umbrella Training Ltd and Dr. Hilary Cooke FIH MI for an amazing learning session about leadership!
It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that we are taking steps to tackle these.
Whilst there is clearly a long way to go, it is encouraging to see the measures people are beginning to take.
A quick catch up of the last week!
MONDAY
Mr Motivator kicked us off on Monday, helping us move our bodies, reframe and refresh our minds, ready for the week ahead, followed by Umbrella Apprentice Zak telling us why apprenticeships work on our IGTV.
TUESDAY
Tuesday was busy, starting with Dr Hilary Cooke FIH MI, who hosted a 1-hour Zoom interactive session about Courageous Leadership.
Kaye from Umbrella Training answered questions from employers and young people wanting to know more about apprenticeships on Twitter #AskAnEmployer.
This was followed by a roundtable discussion, LIVE on LinkedIn, which highlighted how levy transfers work, hosted by our Jo Simovic and guests GSK, LPC, Sodexo and Luxury Family Hotels. You can watch it again here.
In the afternoon our brilliant apprentice Katrina Brandt represented Umbrella Training at the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Apprenticeships via Zoom. This special event attended by Gillian Keegan MP, Minister for Apprenticeships, featured an all apprentice panel which gave Parliamentarians the opportunity to engage directly with apprentices from a variety of industries and sectors and provided a forum to discuss how to ensure apprenticeships are at the forefront of the UK’s recovery from the pandemic.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday started with a fantastic blog by Anna Ambrose, Director of the London Progression Collaboration on the importance of investing and recruiting onto Level 2 apprenticeships. Read more here.
Our Digital Marketing apprentice Kyle was then busy with #AskAnApprentice on Twitter answering questions from employers and young people wanting to know more about apprenticeships.
We then had Psychometric Testing with Consultant, Rachel Begbie where we found out what energy colour we are (I was Sunshine Yellow) and how knowing an individuals energy, motivations and emotional makeup can benefit a team and your workplace.
THURSDAY
Thursday kicked off with Dan Power from ehap who delivered a session on ‘Preparing for End Point Assessment (EPA)’ a must for any apprentice to attend, but if you missed it, don’t worry, please contact us to receive a copy of the session.
This was followed by a talk on LinkedIn Live on Career Progression through Apprenticeships with Sean Wheeler. If you missed it, don’t worry, you can catch up via YouTube.
We ended the day attending the virtual Hospitality Apprentice Showcase, where one of our outstanding apprentice superheroes, Haddy Jadama, MBA, was able to pose a question to Minister Gillian Keegan.
FRIDAY & SAT & SUN
We finished the week off by TAKING OVER Institute of Hospitality (IOH) Instagram!
Jonathan Antonacci posted all day and then interviewed industry leaders from Home Grown Hotels & Lime Wood Group, Farncombe Estate & PPHE Hotel Group LIVE on the Institute of Hospitality (IOH) Instagram in the afternoon! Make sure you check our highlights on our Instagram.
And why not relax with a bit of mindful colouring this weekend with this #NAW2021 colouring-in sheet.
